About
Hi, My name is Bogdan Bednarczyk, I’m based in Melbourne, Australia.

I have been working in IT related industries for over 25 years providing e-commerce solutions, custom programming and hardware support. Whilst co-directing a successful e-commerce business which begun to specialize in high end photography equipment, I found myself drawn to photography and I joined the Essendon Camera Club to further develop my interest. The business provided a fantastic opportunity to access the latest digital photography technology and the Club provided the opportunity to develop my technical expertise in the subject. I had found a passion which combined my interest in technology with my new found love for capturing color and light in pixel form.
However, it was in 2009 my interest in photography was to find it’s absolute focus. I was introduced to diving and discovered the magnificent colors of the reef beneath the waves. There beneath the waves was an entire world which demanded to be captured on film. I dived headline into underwater photography and have never looked back. I live to sink beneath the waves, to be immersed in the alien landscape of the reef and capture the amazing colors on offer to anyone who takes the time to look.
It was at this place that my passion for photography, technology and color seemed to coalesce into a form. For as wonderful as the reef was, all divers know that once you begin to sink deeper from the surface, the darkness creeps in and color is lost. I imagined a torch so powerful that it would bring those deep places back to life, it would finally bring color to a world shrouded in darkness. It was in this place that the DiveStar was born…
My aim with the DiveStar was to create a dive torch so powerful that divers could enjoy the precious time spent below and get so much more fulfillment and enjoyment out of the experience. To create a torch with a strong and consistent wide angle beam that finally brought out the magnificent colors in all their natural beauty. A torch for someone who just wanted to enhance their diving experience, or a torch for the underwater photographer who really needs to capture true color underwater.
A big thanks to the following people who have helped me bring DiveStar to life. My wife Sandra, Mark Fry, Matthew Heath, Paul Deroon, John Heriot, Jane Blythe (novel writer) as well as the communities at IAA (Inventors Association of Australia) and Melbourne Hackers Space.
Thanks to all the people (whom i didn’t mention) who supported me and the project so far.
Cheers
Bogdan
